WESTERN SYDNEY ACADEMY OF SPORT
The Western Sydney Academy of Sport provides opportunities for talented athletes from across Western Sydney to become involved in programs that fast track their progression to the elite levels of sport.Academy athlete development programs provide athletes with controlled access to specialist support services, including coaching and sports science, and supports the development of high performance coaches at a local level. Scholarships are awarded for a 12 month period. During this time an athlete is provided with various developmental opportunities. The Scholarship holder is issued with a full uniform including track suit, polo shirt, training shirt,shorts and a cap.I was first selected in the WSAS in August 05 and since then have developed my paddling further by help from my coach Wayne Thomas,who is at each training session rain or shine.Check out WSAS homepage http://www.wsas.com.au

PENRITH WHITEWATER STADIUM
Penrith Whitewater Stadium was the competition venue for the canoe/kayak slalom events during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Located only an hour from Sydney, it is the only man-made whitewater course of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere
The course has been constructed using a combination of both natural and man-made materials to recreate the characteristics of a natural whitewater river. Water is drawn from the nearby warm-up lake by six 300kw submersible pumps. Each pump delivers 2,800 litres (2.8 cubic metres) of water per second to the start pool at the top of the course, from where it flows down to the finish pool.Moveable gates on a pully system suspend across the channel from start to finish enabling thousands of different slalom courses.The Penrith Whitewater Stadium funds the WSAS athletes with 3 Whitewater sessions a week.It is the prime training venue for me and many other canoe slalom athletes.Check out the stadiums website. www.penrithwhitewater.com.au
